J’dore Du Jour

If you haven’t heard, Du Jour Boutique & Gallery is THE place to buy….OR borrow that head turning, eye catching, jaw dropping designer dress in Vancouver. The collection of dresses scream “I dare you to ask me…Who am I wearing!” and you will reply loudly “it’s (designer of your choice)” Rachel Pally, Tadashi, Marc Bouwer Glamit, Eugenia Designs (Montreal), Kulpa Designs (Vancouver), Carlie Wong (Vancouver), Thein Le (Toronto), Betsey Johnson, and much…MUCH… Oh SO much more…

I went into Du Jour today to check out their Carlie Wong and Kulpa Design Sample Sale
I found out about it through Facebook (Du Jour Boutique has a group if you are interested in keeping up to date),  and www.ilovesamplesale.com

I’ve past by this little boutique many times driving through the International Village Shopping Center and GM Place area, but never thought to stop and take a peek. It’s definitely a little gem of a place.

Once I opened the door colourful dresses explodes off the racks! I didn’t know where to start… I was over joyed to see so many designers in what looks like a +/- 300 square foot space. Instantly Klay and Johan, co-owners of Du Jour, walked me through their extensive collection of beautifully designed dresses and outfits. There are select dresses that were available for “borrow”. Right when they told me that, all my problems are solved! Some dresses were tagged with 3 prices. Buy, Borrow, Original Price.

Buy:
if you wish to purchase the dress for keeps that is the price you pay, the more times the dress is borrowed the lower the price will go

Borrow:
NOW THIS is the BEAUTY… that is the price you pay to borrow the dress for up to 4 days. (there is a dry cleaning charge on top)

Original Price:
The cost of the dress new.

The Borrowing is a brilliant idea! It’s like having access to your high fashioned sister’s closest.  The life span of a dress is one event…you can not wear it to another; once photos are taken and people have seen you looking so stunning, the dress is toast. I think my worst nightmare is having someone come up to me and say…”Didn’t you wear this at such and such event?”. Oh… the horror. Now with Du Jour, you can be confident looking and feeling great at every occasion, function, event, whatever it maybe. Nobody will have to know how little you paid to look so fabulous.

Of course, after their quick tour, I naturally gravitated to the Carlie Wong Sample Sale Rack. The dresses, tops and bottoms are even MORE spectacular in person. Till now I have only been browsing her work on Carlie Wong’s website.

Unfortunately, I brought my boyfriend along (I felt bad having him wait) and made prior appointments, this visit was a quick browse. The next time I walk in, I will be on a mission to find THE knock out dress.

PS: They have the cuties and biggest baby (dog) I’ve ever seen, say Hi to Frankie when you visit.
