Double Indulgence Weekend

Finally back home from my double indulgence Saturday.

Woke up with an aching body and a mother of all sore throats, to make things worst it’s a beautiful Saturday with loads of drafting waiting for me. Crawled to the kitchen to make something to eat, checked emails, Facebook, Twitter, etc etc… anything to postpone “work”. All I can think of was “I’m in dying need of a massage!”

It’s Saturday, what am I doing working?

Picked up the phone and called Eccotique
6:15pm 30 min. Shiatsu @ Eccotique

Eh… what the hell, might as well make it a double indulgence Saturday
7pm Power Hour Facial @ Skoah

It’s 3 pm I can’t wait till 6pm

Between 3pm – 6pm I got a bit of a set back. Skoah Metrowtown called me saying they double booked me and had to drop my appointment since I was a last minute booking. Understandable but disappointing at the same time. My indulgence high instantly dropped 50% with just one phone call. If one phone call can drop the high, another can bring it back up. Called Eccotique, added an Aveda Custom Facial and upgraded my Shiatsu to a Relaxation Back Massage.

Updates plan:
5:30 Relaxation Back Massage
6:00 Aveda Custom Facial

Getting to Eccotique Metrotown (West location by Old Navy) is not the most “relaxing” experience on a weekend. If you were not stressed out before your appointment, battling for parking and walking through a sea of weekend shoppers will raise your blood pressure instantly. All I wanted to do was lay on the massage table, can’t all these people in the mall disappear until I make my way to the spa?? sigh…

Finally, calming aromatic scents filled my senses as I walking into the west coast style spa. I have never been so happy to see a receptionist in my life.
“I’m here for my 5:30 appointment… PLEASE get me behind those doors.”

Relaxation Back Massage:

Eccotique’s Description:
“Swedish massage techniques combined with your just right “ahh-roma” release overall tension and when relaxation is your goal this is the treatment for you.”

This was the best 30 minutes of the week. Christine was my masseuse that afternoon, she totally worked her magic on my aching shoulders. Apparently, she’s training to be a certified Massage Therapist, I wish her the best of luck… then again, I don’t think she needs luck, that girl’s got skills.

Aveda Custom Facial:

Eccotique’s Description:
“A customized masque, extractions and relaxation massage are just the beginning of this staple everyday facial.

The facial was nice….
Why just…”nice”? After my body melting massage, I was a little bit on cloud 9 and just want to flip over and have a soothing facial. I was transferred to another room (understandable) then my esthetician greeted me and went straight to explaining the facial procedure, asking me to smell this smell that, my skin type, if I wanted to change my service to a peel instead, what seemed to me like a whole list of 21 questions. Nice girl, just a little flustered in her thoughts.  I told her, just do whatever… I can’t think right now. Her movements at first were a little stiff/choppy, not as smooth and flowing compared to some of my other facial experiences. I was her last client for the day, she was probably anxious to get off work. After about 1/2 was through, the facial massage was pretty good, her movements weren’t as rigid as before. All in all, in the end I walked out of there with glowing skin.

I think I can totally get use to a routine spa visits in schedule… but not so sure if my wallet agrees with my indulging choices.

Next service to try: Hot Stone Massage! (sounds like a winter thing…)
